Crawford County Lincoln Highway Tour
November 4, 2017 @ 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm
The Ohio Lincoln Highway Advocacy Group and the Crawford Park District have partnered to offer the Crawford County Lincoln Highway Tour on Saturday, November 4 beginning at 1:30 pm.
Join hosts Mike Hocker and Mike McNaull as you tour Crawford County’s portion of America’s first coast-to-coast paved road, the Lincoln Highway.
This tour will cover 57 miles as participants travel by bus through Galion and westward along the original 1913 route to Nevada in Wyandot County. From there we will swing north and return on the 1928 alignment through Oceola and Bucyrus.
There will be a rest break in Bucyrus before continuing on through Crestline and into Richland County to swing down to today’s Route 309 and return to our county’s original path of the Lincoln into Galion before returning to Lowe-Volk Park.
During the trip, your hosts will point out several markers, monuments and places that were key to the Lincoln era, as well as some of the history of the road. Participants are asked to call the Crawford Park District office at 419-683-9000 to reserve a seat on the bus. The bus tour will begin at Lowe-Volk Park which is at 2401 State Route 598.
