A free community concert will be held on Sunday, November 5 at 4 pm at Bucyrus Good Hope Lutheran Church. The concert will feature local vocalists, instrumentalists, the Senior Choir, and congregational singing of some of Johann Sebastian Bach’s timeless sacred works. The hundreds of works created by this musical giant are usually heard not just as music of powerful chords, but also as music written by one with a devout relationship with God.

Good Hope has a Bunn=Minnick IV manual 48 rank pipe organ. A Columbus, Ohio news reporter has concluded that “the sound of [of a Bunn=Minnick] is so encompassing, uplifting, and just plain beautiful that its value to the soul is incomparable. When a Bunn=Minnick plays A Mighty Fortress is Our God, we believe it.”

Though Bach composed his music for the principal Lutheran churches of the city of Leipzig, Germany, you are invited to join Good Hope to hear and sing what Bach sounds like in their church.

Good Hope Lutheran is also celebrating the sixtieth anniversary of the ordination of Rev. James Barkenquast, a well-known area pastor. Refreshments will follow.
