2nd Annual Fly-in — Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, starting at 8:00 a.m.

Pancake Breakfast Fly-in hosted by the Bucyrus Kiwanis Club from 8 a.m. to noon and sponsored by the newly formed Lauretta Schimmoler Museum, Inc., to honor Lauretta — the first woman to manage an airport in the United States (Port Bucyrus) and recognized as the founder of Air Force Flight Nurses (originally the Army Air Corp). Meal tickets are $8, and parking is by donation only. Children 10 years old and younger eat free. Event is expected to occur come rain or shine.

There will be bratwurst, hamburgers, hot dogs, and other food beginning at 11 a.m., provided by the Sons of American Legion Post 181. Kettle Corn and other refreshments will also be available.

A ribbon cutting celebrating the completion of the new taxiway will begin at 10 a.m.

At 9:00 a.m., there is the arrival of Champaign Gal B-25, a TBM, AT6 and others. Helicopter rides, FAAST presentation on “After the Private Pilot,” “Changes in the FAA Website,” and a presentation on Lauretta and then the film Flight Nurses which she consulted in and had a small part, will be shown. Take a tour of the B-25 for a $5 donation.

Shuttle buses will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to visit the Copper Kettle Works, Coopers Market, Pickwick Place, and Crossroads Candles outlet store. Bus tickets are $5 per person and kids under 5 years old are free.
