NEW (4/7) The State has streamlined small business resources into one spot the Small Business Relief Office.
Governor DeWine has issued an updated (4/2/2020) order for Ohioans to stay home and avoid non-essential business in an effort to stem the tide of the growing coronavirus threat. The full order can be read here. There is also a checklist of the most recent Stay at home order you can read here. long with this order is a new dispute resolution platform and essential business checklist.
US Chamber’s Small Business Survival Guide contains basically everything your business needs to know about Federal Aid programs, including how to apply, FAQs, as well as ideas about crowd funding and other creative avenues to staying afloat.
The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act allocated $350 billion to help small businesses keep workers employed amid the pandemic and economic downturn. Known as the PAYCHECK PROTECTION PROGRAM, the initiative provides 100% federally guaranteed loans to small businesses who maintain their payroll during this emergency. Essential businesses and services that will remain open includes hospitals, stores that sell groceries and medicine, restaurants for off-site consumption, and financial and insurance institutions. The list of all essential businesses and services that may remain open are located in Section 12 of the order. The “CISA List”, item “a” in Section 12, can be found on the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s COVID-19 Essential Workers Memo.

The BWC has deferred payments until June 1. The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) is announcing that insurance premium installment payments due for March, April and May for the current policy year may be deferred until June 1, 2020, at which time the matter will be reconsidered. This applies to public and private employers.
BWC will not lapse (cancel) coverage or assess penalties for amounts not paid because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Installment payments due for the three-month period total approximately $200 million.
