Generating Smiles and Creating Memories
Bucyrus Area Chamber of Commerce, with the help of Chamber members Divine Style Boutique, Kennedy Layne Salon, Burkes Outlet, and the Altrusa Club of Bucyrus, celebrated Abilities Awareness Month by arranging for a day of pampering for two lucky individuals supported by the Crawford County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
The day began with Andrew and Carrie being treated to haircuts at Kennedy Layne Salon and Divine Style Boutique. “I love giving back to the community and meeting new people,” said Leslie Hill, stylist and owner of Divine Style Boutique. “Cutting Carrie’s hair made my day!” Kelly Redmon, the salon owner, styled Carrie’s hair, giving her plenty of curls as requested, and receiving rave reviews from her client.
The salon was followed by trips to Divine Style Boutique, where Carrie chose a stylish new outfit courtesy of the boutique, and Burkes Outlet for new clothes for Andrew and an accessory for Carrie. The Altrusa Club of Bucyrus presented the two with gift cards for a dinner at Baker’s Pizza after the makeovers.
“We loved the opportunity to work with Crawford County Board of DD at Burkes Outlet! We love promoting positivity to those who need it; we can all use a little more positivity in our lives!” said a local Burkes Outlet representative. “Burkes Outlet is proud to be a part of the Chamber and this community!”
“The Bucyrus Area Chamber made the day for two of the individuals supported through the county board. Andrew found a new friend who shares many of the same interests and hobbies,” said Tracy Evans, Service and Supports Administrator at Crawford County Board of Developmental Disabilities. “Thank you to Jessie [Furner, Executive Director] for helping add one more friendship to Andrew’s life.”
Melissa Hardesty, Service and Supports Administrator at CCBDD, agreed. “Carrie had the best time today shopping at Divine Style Boutique and choosing a gorgeous outfit with a beautiful necklace. We want to thank the Chamber of Commerce and its members for this special day for our individuals.”
